This game introduces 2 grub dogs, Bulbmin and Emperess Bulblax. The Emperor Bulblax (final boss in pikmin 1) returns, but gets downgraded from a final boss to a normal boss.

"spoiler alert!!!!!!! Reveals Pikmin 2 plot!!!"
In the story, olimar got back home safely, but learns that Hotcate Freight is in debt because a "ravinous space bunny" ate Louie's load of golden pickpick carrots so the ceo had to take out a loan and paid off some of the debt by selling olimar's ship to lower it to 10,100 pokos which shocked Olimar and he dropped a souveneir (bottle cap the size of his body) he found on the distant planet (Earth?) and another ship sez it's worth 100 pokos (more than a year's salery according to the boss), so the ceo sends Louie and Olimar back to get more treasure, so they do but Olimar (accidentaly) left louie behind. When he told this to the CEO, he decides t join him to save louie (and collect the remaining treasure), who was controlling(?) the final boss (to get revenge for being left behind?), after defeating the Titan Dwevil, they put Louie on the treasure hold (cause the ship only has 2 cockpits) and they went home. In a secret cutsceen, the game reveals that Louie HIMSELF ate the golden carrots and blamed it on a space bunny, so it's technically Louie's fault. P.S. Did you know that Olimar's japanese name (orima) is an anigram for Mario and Louie's is an anagram for Luigi?

My bro likes this game and the sequal because it's cool and funny, but the time limit in the first game is kinda rushed.

I think that the minimum parts you need to get to avoid this ending is 25 parts, is it?
